The beefeater - Hayes

I wanted to start my blog with a first post about a popular restaurant that I recently visited. The beefeater is a popular franchise and has 140 pubs around the UK. I had never visited before, therefore I wanted to ensure that I went all out with what I ordered.

My order:

  1. Grill Master's Favourite (Premium T-Bone) medium well done - £24.99

  2. Jumbo Garlic Prawns - £3.99

To start off with, the waitress was really nice. She spoke very fast and didn't really come to the table as often as she could have but it was busy in there and she had a good energy to her. When the food arrived, the presentation of the food was beautiful. I was very hungry and excited, so the big plate of food just made me extremely happy. I tried the prawns first. I tend to always have prawns when going out because I always think "you can never go wrong with a bit of seafood". I stand extremely corrected. These were the most unseasoned prawns I have ever tried. It was so disappointing because they actually looked good but the amount of salt I had to put on them for them to taste OK was just shocking. Swiftly moving on from that heartbreak, I then tried the steak (which is served with mushrooms, tomatoes and fries). On the edges, my steak was burnt so I had to kind of cut the burnt areas off, and even eating around these areas, I definitely felt like the steak was too well done. As I got to the centre of the steak, the steak was medium rare. Surprisingly, this was actually the only part of the steak that I enjoyed. I think it was an unexpected breakthrough for me and I'm never going back to medium-well done steak again. The steak itself again, lacked seasoning and taste. I feel like they just slapped some salt and pepper on there and called it a night. I was drowning every bite in BBQ sauce. Although the steak was actually a decent size, the lack of seasoning in the food as a whole was just not worth the price at all. Could of gone to Asda and made this same meal better and for cheaper.

Ratings:

Service - 8.5 the waitress was nice to us and when we asked for anything she got it for us with little waiting time. Even though it was hard to get her attention but we understood as it was busy.

Food - 3 but only because it was filling and the fries were nice. It was extremely unseasoned and disappointing. Pleasing to the eye but my taste buds were screaming.

Overall - 5 I didn't have a bad experience, I just didn't enjoy the particular dish I had. I wouldn't recommend and I probably wouldn't go back and have the same dish either.
